Types of Rental Housing in NS
Basics of the Law
Condos
Condominiums (or “condos”) are buildings that are divided into multiple units that are owned by individuals or companies. Unlike a traditional apartment building, units in condos are owned and not rented.
Renting from a condo owner is identical to renting a unit from a traditional landlord, and all the same rules of the RTA apply. A tenant must also follow all the rules of the condominium (or “condo board”), which are usually attached to the lease as landlord’s rules.
