When a tenant wants to move out of their rental unit, they have to serve their landlord with a Form C: Tenant’s Notice to Quit with the appropriate amount of notice.

The “anniversary date” is the date that your lease says your tenancy started (usually, the move-in date), and stays the same each year regardless of what kind of lease you have. So, for example, if you move in on June 1st, your anniversary date will always be June 1st even if you are on a month-to-month lease.
