Types of Rental Housing in NS

Landlords and their Agents
All units and tenancies covered under the RTA have an owner, the landlord. Some buildings are owned by corporations/REITs, non-profits, or charities where there is no single owner or landlord; in this instance, the company/organization is your landlord.
Landlords can also have agents that are authorized to act on their behalf. Sometimes landlords hire property management companies to run their buildings, but this can also include individual property managers, building managers, or superintendents. These agents are considered to be your landlords as well, which means you can list them on a residential tenancies form or application for dispute resolution. See Disputes & Resolutions for more information.
